The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) is pleased to announce the appointment of Megan Cairney as the new Chair of the FPS Early Career Group (ECG). Megan, currently a Senior Design & Estimating Engineer at Roger Bullivant Limited (RBL), has been a passionate advocate for knowledge-sharing and professional development within the geotechnical engineering community.
Megan’s journey into the field began during a summer placement at RBL in 2015 while studying for her master’s degree at Heriot-Watt University. Joining the company full-time in 2017, as a Graduate Engineer, she quickly established herself as a versatile professional, gaining experience in various departments, including a secondment with Soil Engineering Geoservices. Today, Megan specialises in designing and estimating piling and mini-piling solutions across the Scottish region.
Since becoming a member of the FPS ECG in 2021, Megan has been actively involved in site visits, webinars, and initiatives supporting young professionals. Reflecting on her new role, Megan said: “I’m excited to take on this new role. The FPS ECG has been an invaluable resource for expanding my knowledge and experience in the ground engineering sector, and I’m eager to promote the group to others early in their careers. I hope to advance the FPS ECG by encouraging cross collaboration with other early career groups and professional bodies.”
Megan’s appointment marks a new chapter for the FPS ECG as it continues to champion early-career professionals in the piling and ground engineering sector.
