FPS Audit Ready to Launch Following Comprehensive Review

The Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) is pleased to announce the rollout of our updated audit, following an extensive review. This updated audit sets new expectations for safety and sustainability, ensuring that FPS members remain at the cutting edge of these crucial areas.

Site Safety: A Renewed Focus
Our audit now places a sharper focus on site safety. We are committed to ensuring that our award-winning guidance on exclusion zones is rigorously adhered to across all member sites. Additionally, the innovations we’ve introduced around guarding and cleaning of augers are being reinforced, helping to reduce the risks associated with these operations. These updates ensure our members meet the highest safety standards, setting the bar for excellence in the industry.

Sustainability: Leading the Carbon Charge
The sustainability elements of the audit have also been significantly enhanced to support the FPS Sustainability Charter. Our members are now required to account for their carbon consumption, with the audit providing a clear framework for benchmarking and reducing carbon output. This commitment aligns with our goal of making tangible progress towards net-zero targets and ensuring that our sector remains an industry leader in environmental stewardship.

Continuous Improvement over Systems
Another key update in the audit process is a shift away from merely having a quality management system in place, which is now a standard across the industry. Instead, our focus has moved towards continuous improvement, particularly how members manage Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). We want to see evidence that any issues raised are not only resolved but that they lead to long-term improvements in quality. This approach fosters an ongoing commitment to raising standards across the board.

With these updates, we aim to create an audit process that’s more than just a check-box exercise. It’s a comprehensive framework designed to ensure that FPS members don’t just meet the standards but exceed them, setting a new benchmark for the entire industry.

As we roll out this updated audit across our member companies, we are confident it will reinforce our collective dedication to leading on safety, sustainability, and quality improvement.
