Celebrating Excellence: FPS 60th Anniversary Awards 2024

On Friday, 22nd November 2024, the Federation of Piling Specialists (FPS) celebrated its prestigious 60th Anniversary Awards, at the Hilton London Bankside Hotel. The event saw outstanding attendance, with industry leaders and FPS members coming together to honour remarkable achievements in the piling sector. The evening was a resounding success, with each award celebrating innovation, dedication, and progress in the geotechnical industry.

FPS Awards 2024 – Winners :

  • Safety Innovation Award (Sponsored by Bauer Equipment): Cementation Skanska, in collaboration with Spillard Safety Systems, won for their innovative AI-driven camera system that enhances safety by automatically halting machinery when a restricted zone is breached.
  • Sustainability Award (Sponsored by Acero Construction): Tensar  & University of Birmingham received this award for their Real-Scale Temporary Working Platform, using their T-Value Method, which achieved a 75% reduction in carbon and cost, demonstrating outstanding environmental stewardship.
  • Rising Star Award (Sponsored by Liebherr): Sam Blanchard, Planning Engineer at Cementation Skanska, was recognised as a trailblazing professional in the industry, known for delivering complex projects ahead of schedule and enhancing site culture.
  • Chair’s Award (Sponsored by Cleveland Steel and Tubes): Matthew Lamb, for his instrumental contributions to the FPS’s carbon reporting processes, enhancing a carbon reporting tool that supports the industry’s net-zero journey.
  • Lifetime Achievement Award (Sponsored by Cementation Skanska): James Blackwell, for his significant and lasting contributions to the foundation industry, including innovations in safety and technology at Martello Piling, an FPS member company.
